| A little about the Newfane Free
Library |
| On a cold January night in
1911 a meeting of the committees from the different organizations
of the town of Newfane was held at the Methodist Evangelical Church
to ponder the question "Does the Town of Newfane need a public
library and reading room?" The answer was a unanimous "YES!"
and since those early days the Town of Newfane has encouraged and
supported its library, which in turn has striven to meet the needs
of its townspeople. |

- Interlibrary loan service - borrow materials not held by the
Newfane Free Library
- Community calendar / Bulletin board
- Community display case - Do you have a collection (postcards,
angels, dolls, etc.) that you would like to display for the
community to enjoy?
- Adopt-A-Book - Help the Newfane Free Library grow by adding
new titles to the collection. "Adopt" a book in your
name or in honor of your family or friends, the library provides
the "house", and the whole community benefits.
- Friends of the Library - Join the friends in promoting the
library and in raising needed funds for library materials. Meetings
are held the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the
library.
- Used book sale - Contact the Newfane Free Library at 778-9344
for further information.
- Children's Programs - Pre-school story hour for 3 and 4 year-olds
held each spring and fall; the Summer Reading Program; Bedtime
story hours.
